I loved this sequel to City of Stairs and I am counting the days til City of Miracles the 3rd book. Blades gets 4 stars because I didn't think it was quite as good as the first book. However, it is a magnificent story, full of imagination, danger, and original characters.
Robert Jackson Bennett has become one of my fave authors/5(). City of Blades is a fantastic follow up to the City of Stairs set five years after the events of City of Stairs and my things have changed.
This book doesnt feature Shara, heroine of the previous book and I thought Id miss her, but Mulaghesh was a fantastic character to follow and see this world through/5(K).

City of Blades stars Mulaghesh, who was my second favorite character of the first book, as she is strong-armed into searching for another missing person in the capital city of the god of war. This time around, the mystery is streamlined and makes plenty of sense after the reveal.
